RSX is proud to announce the lineup for Reading Swing Exchange 2016. All of our bands have links to Reading and we’re stoked to be able support such tremendous local talent. They are listed below in order of appearance.

RSX Welcome Dance – Friday Night
Venue to be announced…

We’re thrilled to be opening up RSX with one of the most reputable swing bands in the business, The Ding Dong Daddios! This Swing and Jump Jive quintet have been on the vintage and contemporary circuit in the UK and mainland Europe for some 12 years or more. Their sound is full and energetic, combining smooth vocal harmonies,  fine trombone playing and a genuine sense of enjoyment to fill the dance floors wherever they play and RSX will be no different. We’re stoked to have these Reading locals warm up the RSX Welcome Dance.

Martyn Nelson & The Rhythm Remedies

RSX Ball
– Saturday Night
St Lawrence’s Church

Headlining RSX this year by performing at our RSX Ball will be Martyn Nelson & The Rhythm Remedies! As a Lindy Hop teacher and scene leader for The Swing Era and event organiser for Stomp Stomp and the Birmingham Swing Festival, Martyn knows just what tunes to throw down to keep everyone dancing all night!

Martyn starting playing music from a very young age. Once he discovered Lindy hop he couldn’t wait to learn how to play swing music. Hearing the vintage swing music and being able to dance to it ignited Martyn’s passion for everything that breathes the authentic ‘swing era’. Martyn searched out the best Jazz musicians he could find and formed the Rhythm Remedies.

RSX Blues Jam
– Saturday Late Night
Watlington House Community Hall

The feedback last year was so loud and unanimous we had no choice but to get Heather Jayne & her Blue Shoes back for 2017. These Reading favourites blew us away last year with their first blues gig and we can’t wait to hear more!

RSX Tea Dance – Sunday Afternoon
Hardcastle Hall, Abbey School

Can you believe it? We’ve added even more live music for you this year! Joining us for this year’s Sunday Tea Dance are long-time Reading favourites The Silver Heels!

These charming folk have been entertaining dancers in Reading for yonks with their regular monthly gigs at the Global Cafe as well as being popular performers at events such as the annual Rising Sun Arts Centre Tea Dance. They’re going to make the perfect addition to this year’s penultimate event.
